Previously unreleased imagery dating from October last year to the present illustrates how Australia’s Special Operations Task Group has performed with distinction in Southern Afghanistan.

In addition to numerous successes in killing or capturing Taliban leaders, the SOTG has achieved big gains for local communities by protecting them from the Taliban. They have achieved this by supporting and enhancing the sovereignty of the Government of Afghanistan through population-centric operations, training Afghan police, and providing medical assistance to the people of Uruzgan in partnership with American helicopter crews from the 82nd Airborne Division.

Following their most recent success in supporting a community led uprising against the Taliban at Gizab, the SOTG is now working hard with ISAF forces in support of operations in Uruzgan and Northern Kandahar.
