Mid Caption: The Air Warfare Destroyer project is currently the largest Defence procurement project in Australia. Approximately 2,600 people are employed directly on the AWD project throughout Australia, including a national AWD shipyard production workforce of about 1,700 people in Adelaide, Newcastle and Melbourne.
The project is being delivered under an Alliance contract arrangement between the Commonwealth of Australia (represented by the Defence Materiel Organisation) as owner-participant, ASC and Raytheon Australia.
